Dairy Farmer Job

As a Canadian farm worker, you will be an integral part of the dairy industry, helping to produce and manage dairy products.

Working as a farmer is more than just milking cows. This position requires a deep understanding of agriculture as well as the ability to manage the day-to-day operations of a large farm. Animal care:

  • Provide daily care for the cows, including feeding, milking, and monitoring their health and well-being.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience working on a dairy farm is beneficial but not required. Job training can be provided.
  • Physical: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working in different weather conditions.
  • Animal Skills: Easy to work with livestock and safe and efficient operation of dairy cows.
  • Mechanical skills: Basic knowledge of the operation of agricultural machinery and equipment.
  • Attention to detail: Ability to follow instructions carefully and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Communication: Good verbal skills to communicate with staff and follow instructions from farm management.
  • Flexibility: willingness to work regularly, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by the farm schedule and seasonal needs.

Position Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting in all areas of production, including but not limited to pig feeding and care, animal health and pig environmental management, cleaning and room preparation, as well as general maintenance, cleaning, and maintenance duties. It is limited to admission tickets, inventory tracking tools, and ordering food and medicine. 

This position requires the candidate to be part of a team working towards specific production goals, following health and safety policies and procedures, and following MLAF SOPs for the humane treatment of animals in our care.
