New Hire Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.–3 p.m., as required

Job Summary

How will you influence? 
You will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and cooking of a variety of food items while maintaining safety and sanitary standards in the preparation and kitchen areas.

As a kitchen helper, you will:

  • It helps in the preparation and cooking of different types of food.
  • Help measure and mix ingredients according to recipes using a variety of kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Cook, grill, bake, and steam meat, fish, vegetables, and other foods under supervision. Add spices to food while mixing or cooking, as directed by others.
  • Slice the meat, divide the food among serving platters, and add sauces, sauces, and garnishes to complete the order as ordered.
  • Wash, peel, cut, and chop fruits, legumes, and fruits.
  • Grind the chicken, fish, and shellfish according to the instructions.
  • Maintenance of workspaces and equipment. Follow the principles of hygiene and safety when handling food and equipment.
  • Move supplies and equipment between warehouses and work areas.

About you:

  • It is desirable to have a certificate from an accredited cooking school.
  • You must have a valid food handling certificate or provincial equivalent.
  • Ability to operate kitchen appliances and perform all other kitchen duties
  • Ability to work in a self-directed and effective environment in an interdisciplinary team
  • Experience in preparing food bases
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
